Signed with SCRL Biogaz du Haut Geer the first contract in Belgium

Schmack Biogas Srl announces the signing of the first contract in Belgium: a new market opens up for the Italian company.

Bolzano, May 17, 2021 – We inform that today Schmack Biogas S.r.l. (“Schmack Biogas”), a subsidiary of PLC S.p.A. (“PLC”), signed with S.C.R.L. Biogaz du Haut Geer (“BHG”) a contract concerning the construction of a biogas plant to be built in Geer (Belgium), fed with agricultural and agro-industrial waste, as well as the revamping of an already existing biogas plant, adjacent to the new one, also owned by BHG (the “Contract”).

In particular, the Contract foresees that Schmack Biogas will supply and install a new hygienisation system for slaughterhouse waste, the agitation systems for the fermenters, the technical rooms and the hydraulic connections for the new power plant, and will take care of the replacement of the biomass feeding systems in the existing power plant. The consideration for the services to be provided by Schmack Biogas is defined at about Euro 3,3 million. The Contract contains standard clauses/in line with market practice for projects of this nature, including, inter alia, payment terms on the basis of contractual milestones (and penalties for any delays in relation to the agreed schedule of works).

The Contracts are expected to be executed with own means. Design activities will start immediately, and Schmack Biogas is scheduled to enter the site in late September 2021. The work is expected to be completed for the second quarter of 2022. The Contract is part of the ordinary activity of Schmack Biogas.

The parties have expressly provided in the Contract clauses aimed at limiting the possible impact of the COVID – 19 contingency with respect to the obligations contractually assumed both in terms of possible delays and in terms of possible higher costs.

Through this transaction, the PLC Group, through its subsidiary Schmack Biogas, confirms its role as a leading company in the biogas and biomethane sector not only in Italy, but also abroad, in full compliance with the strategic objectives of its roadmap to 2024, as well as the guidelines of the European Union and of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan with regard to the ecological transition.
